If you want to get a glimpse of the universe, all you have to do is crane your neck on a cloudless night and look toward the heavens. But if you really want to get up close and personal with the night sky, head to the Geumnyeonsan Observatory. There¡¯s perhaps no better place in all of Busan to see stars. The observatory has become a favorite spot for tourists as well as locals. It¡¯s even on the itinerary of the Busan City Tour, which takes visitors to area hot spots. That¡¯s helped it reach record visitor numbers and become a top attraction in Busan. The observatory opened in 2000 - a fitting way to usher in the new millennium. Located in the Geumnyeonsan Youth Training Institute, the observatory is open to the general public, and admission is free. It offers a variety of special programs that visitors can enjoy. These include events geared toward families and programs for teenagers. The observatory is conveniently situated within the city, just a short cab ride or 20-minute walk from several bus stops and a subway station. Additionally, its location in the training center means visitors can access various sports facilities as well as a library with 5,000 books and other materials. If you want to get a little exercise and enjoy the night breeze, there¡¯s also a tranquil path that¡¯s worth a visit. Aside from the night sky itself, you can get great views of the Busan skyline from the observatory. For a real treat, come here during the autumn fireworks festival to get some of the best views of Gwangan Grand Bridge. ¢¹Information : Geumnyeonsan Observatory (051-610-3222)
